The statement is to be understood as referring to the human perfection of one who is not infallible. This may sometimes be used in the speech of some scholars, such as Abu al-Hasan al-Ash'ari's saying about Imam Ahmad: "Because he is the virtuous Imam and the perfect leader." A group of scholars have quoted this statement from him without refuting it.
