Did the Messenger, may God's prayers and peace be upon him, refuse to meet the killer of Hamza after his conversion to Islam?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, met Wahshi, the killer of Hamza, after the people of Ta'if embraced Islam. When he saw him, he asked: "Are you Wahshi?" He affirmed. Then he asked: "Did you kill Hamza?" He replied that what had happened had reached him. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then said: "Can you keep your face hidden from me?" So Wahshi departed. After the passing of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, Wahshi went forth to fight Musaylimah the Liar, to kill him and thereby compensate for Hamza, and he killed him with his spear. It was said to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "This is Wahshi," whereupon he said: "Leave him, for the Islam of one man is dearer to me than the killing of a thousand disbelievers." In this Hadith, it is understood that one dislikes seeing someone who has harmed a relative, and that Islam erases what came before it.
