To what extent is the narration true which mentions that the Companion Wahshi was overcome by alcohol?

The aforementioned hadith was narrated by Al-Tayalisi and Al-Bayhaqi, and its origin is found in Al-Bukhari, but with a different wording. The chain of narration for the hadith is strong, tracing back to Wahshi. Wahshi narrates the story of his killing Hamza in the Battle of Uhud, then his killing of Musaylamah the Liar, and it includes details of his journey, his conversion to Islam, and his meeting with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Different narrations have been reported for some of the hadith's chains, and the preserved one states: "From Ja’far ibn Amr, he said: I went out with Ubaidullah ibn Adi."
