What is the ruling on wiping one's hand with the Qur'an, then wiping it over the head with the intention of seeking healing?

The Quran is a healing and a mercy for the believers. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Ruqyah with the Quran and commanded it. It is permissible for a person to place their hand on the painful area of their body and perform Ruqyah for themselves with the established supplications and remembrances. Similarly, it is permissible for the one performing Ruqyah to place their hand on the patient's painful area, as long as it is not 'awrah (intimate parts) or a non-mahram woman. However, merely wiping one's hand on the Mus'haf and then wiping it on the head with the intention of healing has no basis in Islamic law, and is closer to innovation (bid'ah). What is prescribed is the recitation of the Quran and performing Ruqyah with it.
