What is the position of Christians who live in tranquility and certainty regarding their religion, despite their turning away from the remembrance of Allah (the Quran), concerning the noble verse: (And whoever turns away from My remembrance – indeed, he will have a an oppressive livelihood, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind)?

The word of Allah is truth and certainty. Allah has decreed a life of hardship for whoever turns away from His remembrance. Ibn Kathir interpreted this hardship as anxiety, confusion, and doubt in this world, even if one appears to enjoy outward comforts. Others interpreted it as the torment of the grave. The more likely interpretation is that it is general, encompassing this world, the barzakh (interim period after death), and the Hereafter. Therefore, it is not true that Christians and others live in tranquility. In fact, the reality in Western countries attests to the high rates of psychological illnesses, crime, and suicide among them, which confirms that they live in anxiety, confusion, and doubt. Allah opens the doors of comfort and luxury in this world for the disbeliever, except for the doors of security and blessing, as these are exclusive to believers, for the tranquility of the heart is found in the remembrance of Allah. Thus, a disbeliever cannot live in security, tranquility, and blessing; rather, they are in psychological distress that drives them to crime or suicide. The testimonies of those who have embraced Islam confirm the hardship they endured before Islam, and that faith grants a good life.
