What is the ruling on working in an examination office that determines the percentage of damage to insured goods?
Contemporary Fiqh assemblies and scholars have ruled that commercial insurance, in all its forms and types, has no legal basis in Islamic law due to its inclusion of Sharia prohibitions such as gharar (excessive uncertainty), gambling, and riba (usury).
Based on this, it is impermissible to work in testing offices affiliated with commercial insurance companies, as it constitutes cooperation in sin and transgression.
However, as for cooperative insurance companies, which were established to avoid the Sharia prohibitions found in commercial insurance, there is no objection to working for them or dealing with them after verifying their adherence to Sharia guidelines.
