Is it permissible to infer from the story of the Two Gardens in Surat Al-Kahf the permissibility of supplicating against that which burdens a person in their religion, and is it permissible to infer from the story of the Prophet who slaughtered horses because they distracted him from prayer the permissibility of this action?

In the story of the owner of the two gardens in Surat Al-Kahf, there is an indication of the permissibility of supplicating against the oppressive and arrogant person and his wealth. In the words of the righteous man: "Then perhaps my Lord will give me better than your garden and send upon it a thunderbolt from the sky, and it will become an uncultivated barren plain," there is a supplication against the oppressor that is befitting of his injustice.

As for the story of Solomon (peace be upon him) and his slaughtering of his horses, it does not imply the permissibility of supplicating against wealth or destroying it, for the law of the previous prophets differs from our law. Solomon disposed of the horses in a lawful manner according to his law. Some exegetes believe that he slaughtered them to give their meat in charity, not to destroy wealth, as it was narrated from Al-Qurtubi: "So they were brought back, and he hamstrung them with the sword, as an act of devotion to Allah... He slaughtered them immediately, to give their meat in charity."

If a Muslim wishes to dispose of wealth that burdens him, it should be by spending it in avenues of goodness and righteousness, while ensuring not to neglect those whose sustenance is incumbent upon him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade squandering wealth, saying: "Do not supplicate against yourselves, and do not supplicate against your children, and do not supplicate against your wealth." He also said: "Indeed, Allah disliked for you idle talk, excessive questioning, and squandering of wealth." Thus, preserving wealth is among the necessities in Islamic law.
