Did Safiyyah, Mother of the Believers, have any involvement in the poisoning of the sheep that was presented to the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace?

The story of the poisoned sheep presented to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in Khaybar is authentically established and has been narrated in two main contexts:

1. From Anas ibn Malik: A Jewish woman came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with a poisoned sheep, and he ate from it. The effect of the poison remained in his throat, peace and blessings be upon him. 2. From Abu Hurairah: After the conquest of Khaybar, a poisoned sheep was presented to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. He gathered the Jews and asked them about it, and they admitted that they had poisoned it, saying, "If you were a liar, we would be rid of you; and if you were a prophet, it would not harm you."

As for the mention of the Mother of the Believers Safiyyah bint Huyayy in this context, it appeared in a weak narration by Az-Zuhri, which states that a Jewish woman presented the poisoned sheep to Safiyyah in her house for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to eat from it. This chain of narration is mursal (lacking a link in the chain to the Companion) and contains some weak narrators, making it unreliable. Had Safiyyah been aware of the poison, Allah would have revealed it to His Prophet. Safiyyah, may Allah be pleased with her, was desirous of Islam and optimistic about her marriage to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, elevated Safiyyah's status. When she wept because Hafsa said to her, "Indeed, I am the daughter of a Jew," he said to her, "Indeed, you are the daughter of a prophet (Moses), and your uncle is a prophet (Aaron), and you are under a prophet (Muhammad). So how can she boast over you?" Then he said to Hafsa, "Fear Allah, O Hafsa."
