A Muslim is rewarded for everything that befalls them if they seek that reward with a righteous intention. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Wondrous is the affair of the believer! Indeed, all of his affairs are good, and this is not for anyone except the believer. If prosperity overtakes him, he thanks Allah, and that is good for him. And if adversity befalls him, he endures patiently, and that is good for him." And he, peace and blessings be upon him, also said: "No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were a thorn that pricks him, but Allah expiates some of his sins by it."
