If you perform ghusl before seeing one of the two signs of purity, then that ghusl is not valid, and the prayers you performed with that ghusl are not valid, and you must make them up. However, if you leave off ghusl and prayer after menstruation ends and you see one of the signs of purity, until the time of one prayer or more prayers passes, then you must make up the missed prayers because they are a debt upon you. If you do not know the number of missed prayers, then make up what you most likely estimate to be the number due from you. The method of making up is to pray each day, in addition to the five present prayers, as much as you are able, without harming your body or your livelihood, until you are certain or most likely estimate that you have made up what you missed.
