Are the aforementioned matters – the work of the preacher who uses music, his mixing with women due to work, his not growing his beard, and his leniency in some religious matters – sufficient reasons to separate from him, and would leaving him in this situation be considered leaving for the sake of Allah?

We understand that the relationship is a legitimate marriage not based on consummation, and not merely an engagement, and that your designation of the young man as an "fiancé" is a customary term in your community.

The right to divorce rests with the man, but the woman has the right to request divorce or khul' (dissolution of marriage initiated by the wife) for legitimate reasons, among them her dislike of the man's deficiency in religious observance, such as his inclusion of music in his programs and his laxity regarding mixing with the opposite sex and his beard.

Nevertheless, if the husband has affection and love for his wife, it is commendable for her to be patient with him and offer him advice before hastily seeking khul'.

As for the husband's work: what corresponds to the production of news and social programs is permissible (mubah), while what corresponds to the inclusion of music is forbidden (haram). He must abandon the forbidden or seek an alternative free from it. Regarding his earnings, what corresponds to the permissible part is good and permissible, while what corresponds to the forbidden part must be given out for the general welfare of Muslims.

If the majority of the husband's wealth is permissible and good, then his food and drink are likewise permissible, as the ruling is based on the majority. It is permissible to deal with someone who possesses mixed wealth with the intention of taking from his lawful money.
