Is being preoccupied with safeguarding the security of the Guests of God (Hujjaj) a valid reason for missing the supererogatory prayers and Tarawih?

First: The work of security personnel in the Two Holy Mosques, serving the Guests of Rahman, carries immense reward, as it is a benefit extending to others, and they should seek this reward from Allah.

Second: It is not permissible for a security officer to neglect his duty for voluntary acts of worship. However, he has other avenues for reward: 1. The intention of doing good to Muslims and preserving their security, for "Indeed, actions are by intentions." 2. Engaging in acts of worship that do not conflict with his work, such as remembrance of Allah (dhikr) and reciting the Quran. 3. He is hoped to receive the reward of supererogatory prayers (nawafil) and Tarawih if he was accustomed to them outside of his work, and then became preoccupied with his duty, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him): "If a servant falls ill or travels, what he used to do when he was a resident and healthy will be recorded for him." Nevertheless, he should strive, after completing his duty, to pray some supererogatory prayers and Tarawih, even if only two rak'ahs with minimal recitation, for "whoever prays with ten verses will not be recorded among the heedless."
