Is it preferable for a person to be buried in a country close to Palestine so that the distance of their walk on the Day of Resurrection towards the land of gathering (mahshar) is shorter?

Discussions about matters of the Afterlife, such as the Gathering (Hashr), pertain to the Unseen (al-Ghayb) and cannot be measured against worldly circumstances. Salvation from the distresses of the Afterlife is achieved through piety (taqwa) and obedience to Allah. The pious will be secure on the Day of Judgment, as Allah Almighty says: "Whoever comes with a good deed will have better than it, and they will be safe from the terror of that Day." A Muslim must focus on accumulating righteous deeds that will save him from the horrors of the Day of Judgment. This is what the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, guided to when he was asked about the Hour: "What have you prepared for it?" He turned away from answering about its timing to mentioning preparation for it, because that is what is important.
