What should a wife do with her smoking husband who prevaricates about quitting, especially since she is bothered by his smell during marital intimacy and rejects him because of it?

The wife should not tire of advising her husband, especially concerning smoking, because it is the right of a Muslim upon his Muslim brother to be advised, and because his righteousness leads to the righteousness of the family. She should explain to him the impermissibility and harms of smoking and inform him of the relevant fatwas. She should also pray to Allah to make him detest smoking.

As for the wife's refusal to fulfill her husband's desires due to his smoking, if it is because she is harmed by the smell of smoke, then she has the right to do so, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There should be no harm nor reciprocating harm." However, if there is no direct harm from the smell of smoking, then she does not have the right to refuse him with the intention of disciplining him, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "If a man calls his wife to his bed and she refuses, and he spends the night angry with her, the angels curse her until morning."
