The answer

The fundamental principle for a woman is to stay in her home. Allah Almighty says: "And stay in your houses." A woman's going to her family's home at the beginning of her postpartum period (nifas) is permissible by Sharia, especially since a woman during this time cannot serve herself or her husband. This should be with the husband's consent and permission. If the husband does not give permission, she is not allowed to leave. The husband should not burden her with what is difficult for her, and he should help her or bring her family to help her. If the husband gives permission, the wife must consider his right and not stay at her family's home unnecessarily, and she should not stay for the entire postpartum period unless her husband willingly agrees to that, due to the husband's need for his wife.
