What is the authenticity of the Hadith: "O Allah, illuminate my sight with the Book, and expand my chest with it, and employ my body with it, and loosen my tongue with it, and strengthen my heart with it, and expand my understanding with it, and strengthen my resolve with it, for there is no might or power except through You, O Most Merciful of the merciful ones," and is it permissible to memorize and act upon it if it is not authentic?

The supplication mentioned for memorizing the Qur’an and preventing its forgetfulness has not been authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, nor from any of his Companions. Its chain of narration is very weak, and it is fabricated as stated by Al-Dhahabi. No specific supplication or special ruqyah has been authentically reported for this purpose. Whoever wishes to memorize the Qur’an must commit to its constant revision and regular recitation.
