Must the husband fulfill his promise of marriage, or obey his mother who rejects the date due to a relative's childbirth? And must the wife obey her husband in postponing the wedding, or obey her father who refuses to break the promise?

Marriage is among the good deeds that should be hastened, due to the benefits it entails, such as chastity and procreation. Al-Nafrawi mentioned that among the benefits of marriage are: satisfying desires, increasing offspring, striving for the Hereafter by being reminded of its delights, fulfilling God's will in the continuation of the human species, obeying the Messenger's command to procreate, and ensuring the continuation of righteous ذكر (remembrance/legacy) and the child's supplication for their parents.

Moreover, agreeing upon a marriage date positively impacts the course of married life. If a specific condition is agreed upon, such as completing the marriage before a year passes, it is obligatory to fulfill it. The mere birth of the husband's brother's wife is not a justification for delay.

The husband is not granted a delay if he requests one to prepare the marital home; rather, a delay is granted for a short period, as is customary, solely to rectify the matter.

A wife's obedience to her husband takes precedence over her obedience to her father after consummation ( دخول), but before that, her obedience is to her father.
