Do distress and anxiety experienced while committing a sin lessen its punishment in the Hereafter?

The anxiety, distress, and gloom that accompany sin are part of its ill effects. As for it mitigating punishment, there is no evidence to support that. However, the calamities that befall a believer serve as expiation for their sins, for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Calamity continues to afflict the believing man or woman in their self, their wealth, and their children, until they meet Allah Almighty with no sin remaining upon them."
