The question

Is there anything in the Qur’an or Sunnah that supports the superiority of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, over other messengers, despite His saying, Exalted is He: "We make no distinction between any of His messengers"?

The answer

One must believe in all prophets and messengers without differentiation, but Allah has favored some over others, as stated in His words: "Those are the messengers—We have preferred some of them over others." Muhammad, peace be upon him, is the best of the prophets, and he is the master of the children of Adam on the Day of Resurrection. He is the first for whom the earth will split open, the first intercessor and the first whose intercession is accepted. He was sent to all mankind, and the Qur’an revealed to him is preserved from distortion. He is the Seal of the Prophets and the one with the Praised Station (Al-Maqam Al-Mahmud) on the Day of Resurrection, and the first to cross the Sirat (bridge) with his community.
