Does a person gifting what he loves to another fall under the spending and righteousness mentioned in the verse: "You will not attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love; and whatever you spend of thing – indeed, Allah is Knowing of it"?

Spending from what one loves is a path to attaining righteousness and indicates sincere faith. The opinions of scholars have differed regarding the meaning of this expenditure. Some consider it the obligatory charity (Zakat), others believe it refers to all charities, and yet others hold that it encompasses all expenditures made seeking the countenance of Allah, which is the most comprehensive and encompassing view. A Muslim's giving of a gift, with the intention of drawing closer to Allah or strengthening family ties or helping the needy, falls within this meaning, and the giver will be rewarded for it; because it is an act of benevolence that leads to affection and love among Muslims.
