Is wiping with a cloth on something touched by the envier, then placing it in water and washing with it, sufficient instead of the envier's ablution, to remove the effect of the evil eye?

If the 'ain (evil eye) caster is known, he is asked to wash his face, hands, elbows, knees, the ends of his feet, and the inside of his lower garment (izār) in a vessel. Then, this water is poured from behind over the head and back of the afflicted person, and the vessel is overturned.

It is not sufficient to merely wash the inside of the lower garment. If requesting the washing might cause discord, it should be explained that the evil eye is real, and it can emanate from a loving or righteous person without intending harm. It occurs with admiration, and one should be encouraged to pray for blessings when admiring something.
