The answer

A parent may take from their child's wealth according to their needs, within reasonable limits. The child has the right to prevent them from being extravagant. It is not obligatory for a child to inform their parents of the amount of their wealth unless it pleases them and does not harm the child. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "You and your wealth belong to your father." This means that it is permissible for the father to take from the wealth, not that he owns it entirely, as evidenced by the fact that the father inherits only one-sixth of his deceased child's estate.
