What is the ruling on trading in "Zarda" of different flavors, which is a type of tobacco, and is chewing it permissible as one of the muftis claimed, knowing that you previously issued a fatwa on the impermissibility of chewing tobacco?

Legal rulings such as detestability (karaha) and permissibility (ibaha) are not related to substances themselves but rather to the actions of accountable individuals. Thus, it is incorrect to say that tobacco is detestable; rather, it is the person's action, such as smoking or chewing it, that is described as such. Differentiating between smoking tobacco and chewing it is not sound, as it is a differentiation between two similar things, and harm results from both. Consuming tobacco in any way is forbidden (haram) because it falls under the principle of prohibiting a person from inflicting harm upon themselves, which contravenes the objective of Sharia in preserving a person's health, body, and wealth. This is supported by Quranic verses, such as the Almighty's saying: "And do not kill yourselves. Indeed, Allah is ever Merciful to you."
