What is the ruling on a girl complaining against her father to withdraw his guardianship due to his ill-treatment of her and her sister?

Both parents and children have rights over each other, and a child must honor their parent even if the parent acts wrongly. The father is religiously obligated to protect his daughters and ensure their chastity, and if he harms them, he has violated both religious law and natural inclination.

We advise the questioner not to lodge a complaint against her father until she has despaired of his responding to advice and reminders of God. If advice proves unfruitful, there is no sin in referring his matter to someone who can restrain him, and the Shariah judge is the one who determines the appropriate action.
