The rights of parents are great. It is proper to treat them with gentleness and reverence, and not to walk ahead of them unless it is for their benefit. Obedience to them is obligatory in matters that benefit them and do not harm the child. It is not permissible to argue with them in a way that angers them. However, arguing with kindness for a good purpose and without causing anger is permissible. One must be diligent in honoring the mother and showing kindness to her, and turn away from whispers (waswas) and not pay attention to them.
