Is zakat obligatory on ornamental gold that exceeds the niṣāb, and is it considered for adornment if its owner intends to sell it when needed, and what should she do if her husband is not convinced of its obligation?

Scholars have differed regarding the zakat on gold designated for permissible use. The majority view, which is the one issued in fatwas, is that zakat is not obligatory on it. Accordingly, if the gold is for adornment, there is no zakat on it, even if not all of it is worn, or if its owner intends to sell it when needed. However, if the gold is intended for savings, or for both savings and use, then zakat is obligatory on its owner. It must be paid from the gold itself or its value, and it is not permissible to delay it.
