What is the ruling regarding a husband telling his wife, "You are divorced - divorced - divorced," only for her to find out she is two months pregnant two weeks later, and what is the method of reconciliation?

The divorce you uttered depends on your intention:

- If you intended to issue three divorces, then your wife has become unlawful for you according to the majority of scholars, and she will not become lawful for you until she marries another husband, and he then divorces her after consummating the marriage.

- If you intended to emphasize the first statement, or if you did not intend anything, then one divorce is binding upon you, and you may reconcile with your wife before she gives birth to her child.

- Ibn Qudamah said: If he intended emphasis, it is accepted from him. If he intended to issue the divorce, then it is three. If he did not intend anything, then it is one.

- And Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: One divorce is binding upon you in any case, and you may reconcile with her before she gives birth, even if you intended three divorces.
