Is it forbidden to wean a seven-month-old baby girl in order to perform the Hajj pilgrimage, especially if postponing Hajj might prevent its performance later?

The child must be breastfed as long as there is a need for it and they are within the age of breastfeeding. This is an obligation upon the father. The husband cannot compel his wife to breastfeed; rather, he should seek another wet nurse if she refuses, as Allah Almighty says: "And if you are in discord, another woman will suckle for him." If the child refuses to breastfeed from anyone else and is in need, then it is obligatory upon her to breastfeed him to prevent harm, and she is entitled to request payment. However, if the child is not harmed by weaning before two years of age, and both parents agree to it, then there is no objection, as Allah Almighty says: "Mothers shall breastfeed their children for two whole years, for those who wish to complete the nursing." It is permissible to shorten the duration if they consult and agree, provided there is no harm to the infant, as Allah Almighty says: "And if they both desire weaning by mutual consent and consultation, there is no blame upon them." Therefore, there is no objection to weaning the daughter for the sake of Hajj if the husband agrees and the daughter is not harmed.
