Is it permissible to use natural or artificial silk coverings for sitting and praying upon?

It is impermissible for a man to use natural silk in clothing or to sit on it, whether in prayer or outside of it. Some scholars have even stated that a man's prayer is invalid if he prays in a silk garment. This prohibition includes wearing it, sitting on it, leaning on it, covering oneself with it, using it as a screen, and all other forms of use according to the majority of scholars. However, the use of artificial silk is not prohibited.
