A wife does not have the right to prevent her husband from taking back his divorced wife or marrying another, unless she stipulated this in the marriage contract. The wife does not sin merely by expressing her disapproval, as long as it does not amount to disobedience (nushuz). It is not permissible for the wife to seek a divorce merely because her husband took back his divorced wife, unless there is actual harm inflicted upon her. The wife must exercise patience and not hasten to seek a divorce, due to the destruction of the family and the psychological and social harm that results from it. The wife can avoid the ill-manners of her co-wife by minimizing interaction with her, and the husband must avoid everything that causes problems between his two wives and fulfill his role in maintaining their welfare and admonishing the one who misbehaves.
