A wife must obey her husband in taking care of herself and her appearance, and in bed if he calls her, and it is not permissible for her to refuse without a legitimate excuse, otherwise, she would be disobedient (nashiz). The husband erred by practicing masturbation and adultery. He must repent sincerely, and he should have concealed his sin by not informing his wife and her family. A wife is not allowed to seek divorce except for specific reasons, and the husband's transgression (fisq) is one of these reasons. If the husband repents sincerely, the wife does not have the right to seek divorce for that reason. If the wife dislikes her husband and hates staying with him, she may seek khul‘ (divorce initiated by the wife). If the husband does not wish to separate, he should seek the help of wise people for reconciliation.
