How can we reconcile the Hadith: ((…Verily, Faith, when tribulations occur, is in Sham [the Levant])) with the current reality of the spread of tribulations and Ash'ari doctrine in the lands of Sham, and does this mean following their Ash'ari scholars? What are the tribulations referred to in the Hadith, and how do we respond to the Ash'aris' use of this Hadith as proof of the correctness of their school of thought?

At the End of Time, when the great tribulations and major signs of the Hour occur, faith and security will be in Al-Sham (Greater Syria). The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saw in his dream that the pillar of the Book (faith) was moved from beneath his pillow to Al-Sham. This is the place where the believers will gather to fight the Dajjal, and where Jesus, peace be upon him, will descend to kill him at the Gate of Lod.
