What is the authenticity of the hadith narrated in "Kanz al-A'mal" (14148) which states: "O Mu'adh, verily after me, the Levant will be opened for you from Al-Arish to the Euphrates. Their men and women will be stationed there until the Day of Resurrection. So whoever chooses a coast from the coasts of the Levant and Jerusalem, he is in jihad until the Day of Resurrection"? And is there any explanation for it?

The aforementioned hadith is weak and unproven, and it contains several defects: the first is in Hani' ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, the second in Sulayman ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Bint Shurahbil, and the third in Muhammad ibn al-Nu'man ibn Bashir al-Saqati. The hadith has two corroborating narrations, one of which is fabricated and the other is not sound. Therefore, the hadith is not authentic through the chain of Mu'adh, nor through its corroborating narrations. The meaning of the hadith is that Allah will open Ash-Sham for the Muslims, its borders extending from Al-Arish in Egypt to the Euphrates in Iraq, and when it is opened, all its inhabitants will be in a state of ribat (guarding the frontiers) until the Day of Judgment.
