How can a Muslim have a good opinion of Allah amid difficult circumstances and events that may suggest a lack of divine protection, such as killing and the use of chemical weapons in Syria, and how can one have a good opinion of Allah in these situations?

Good presumption about Allah is not that the servant's desires are fulfilled, but rather the belief that what Allah has decreed is in accordance with wisdom and His Most Beautiful Names. The defeat at Uhud was due to disobeying Allah's command, as He Almighty said: {Say: "It is from yourselves."} Man is limited in knowledge and understanding, ignorant of the consequences of matters, and tends towards injustice, despair, and ingratitude in adversity, and joy and pride in blessings, as He Almighty said: {Indeed, man is unjust and ungrateful} and {And if We let man taste mercy from Us and then We withdraw it from him, indeed, he is despairing and ungrateful.} He loves what harms him and dislikes what benefits him, affirming His Almighty's saying: {And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. And Allah knows, while you know not.} Thus, good presumption about Allah is based on Allah's absolute perfection and man's limitations.
