Is eating the meat of a zebra permissible (halal) or forbidden (haram)? And what is the basis for prohibiting the meat of animals?

It is permissible to eat the meat of wild donkeys, but not domestic ones, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) prohibition of the meat of domestic donkeys. And everything that the Sharia has explicitly forbidden, whether by its specific kind or its general category, such as predators and birds with talons, or what is known to be impure or becomes impure due to a temporary cause, like the Jallalah (animal that feeds on filth) or animals that eat carrion, or what is born from a permissible and impermissible union, or what has been commanded to be killed or forbidden to be killed, or what had a name other than Allah invoked over it, or carrion that has not been slaughtered according to Islamic rites.
