The answer

Among the etiquettes of remembering Allah is for the reciter's mouth to be clean, and for any alteration in it to be removed with a miswak (tooth-stick), because remembrance (dhikr) is an act of worship performed with the tongue. Purifying the mouth during dhikr is a good etiquette. So, whoever intentionally remembers Allah while their mouth has an altered smell or contains food, has abandoned this great etiquette. We advise the questioner to turn away from whisperings (waswas).
