Is it permissible for a woman to seek divorce due to her intense jealousy of her polygamous husband, and the resulting nervous problems, and the husband's reprimand, cursing, and verbal abuse?
If you know that your jealousy and short temper are the cause of what is happening, then strive to overcome them to avoid behaviors that provoke your husband and lead to scolding and raised voices. Seek help from Allah and refuge in Him from Satan. Force yourself to be forbearing and patient, for they will become second nature. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "And whoever practices patience, Allah will grant him patience. And no one has been given a gift better and more expansive than patience," and "Indeed, knowledge is acquired by learning, and forbearance is acquired by practicing forbearance." You have the right to request a divorce if you are harmed, but do not rush into it, as it may not always be be in your best interest.
