How many books did God send down to humankind, and are they 104 as is said?

One must believe in all the books that Allah revealed to His prophets and messengers, generally, as Allah Almighty says: "The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers." As for believing in them in detail, one must believe in what has been explicitly stated. There is a consensus on the obligation to believe in the Torah, the Gospel, the Psalms, the Qur'an, and the scriptures of Abraham and Moses. However, the hadith that mentions a total of one hundred and four heavenly books is false and fabricated due to the presence of a liar in its chain of narration.
