Is it permissible to drink water over which Quran has been recited without ablution?

There is no harm for someone who is not in a state of ablution (wudu') or for someone who is in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) to drink water over which Quran has been recited, nor in reciting Quran for ruqyah (exorcism/healing through Quranic recitation). Ruqyah does not require ritual purity. Some scholars have permitted ruqyah for a person in a state of junub, such as Malik, who said: "A person in a state of junub should not recite the Quran except for an ayah or two, when going to bed, or to seek refuge from fear and the like, not with the intention of recitation." However, it is preferable for the one performing ruqyah to be in a state of ritual purity.
