Why did Western countries advance by separating religion from the state, while Islamic countries remained behind?

The West's advancement in material sciences came after their separation of religion from life, due to the distortion of religion, its conflict with people's interests and scientific facts, and the Church's war against scientists and its alliance with unjust rulers. As for Islam, it cannot be separated from life because it is the revelation of Allah, to which falsehood cannot come. It encourages knowledge and safeguards the interests of creation. The Muslims' backwardness is not due to Islam itself, but rather to their failure to embrace it correctly. If the Ummah returns to its religion, its glory and scientific leadership will be restored.
