When did Islam become a religion and a state?

Islam has been both a religion and a state since its inception, and it will remain so until Allah inherits the earth and all that is upon it, because it is preserved by its Book, the Sunnah of its Prophet, and its Ummah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) established the Islamic state in Medina, and he was the leader of the people, their judge, and their mufti. His rightly-guided successors followed this path. No one doubted this truth until secularism appeared in the West and irreligion in the East, and some Muslims were influenced by them. Islam is comprehensive of all aspects of life: beliefs, acts of worship, transactions, and morals, and these are the pillars upon which the state is built.
