Is it Islamically permissible for a betrothed man who suffers from severe psychological and sexual repression, and fears falling into perversion, to engage in some touching and kissing with his fiancée to alleviate his condition until they can marry, based on the advice of doctors?

The suitor is a stranger to his fiancée; therefore, it is not permissible for him to look at her with lust or to kiss her, and there is a consensus on this. The Shari'ah has permitted looking at her during the engagement for necessity only. The cure is not by falling into the unlawful, for Allah has not made the cure in what He has forbidden.

It is recommended to expedite marriage, or to fast for those who cannot, and to occupy oneself with physical activities, associate with righteous people, increase in remembrance (dhikr), supplication (du'a), and seeking forgiveness (istighfar), avoid seclusion, and consult a Muslim doctor.

These Shari'ah rulings are the practical solution, not persistence in forbidden acts, as that may lead to fornication (zina). If lust becomes overwhelming and one fears falling into indecency, masturbation is permissible to avert the greater harm.
