Does charity avert calamity, and why was the mother's prayer for her deceased infant not answered? Did the child feel death or loneliness in the grave? What is her status in Paradise, and does she long for her mother? How will she intercede for her parents? Is there a book that addresses these issues?

A Muslim must believe that Allah Almighty does as He wills and judges with justice. He is not questioned about what He does, and He wrongs no one. It is advisable to console the sister in her affliction, remind her of the virtue of patience, that Allah will compensate her with something better, that her daughter will intercede for her and enter Paradise, and that children who die young will be in Paradise. There is much evidence for this from the Qur'an and Sunnah, including that Allah commanded His angels to build the House of Praise (Bayt al-Hamd) for one who praised Allah when his child was taken, that young children are the "butterflies of Paradise," and that they await their parents at the gates of Paradise to open them. The girl's feeling of death may have been an inspiration, and the Angel of Death takes the soul with Allah's permission. Her state in the barzakh (interim period) is known only to Allah, except that children are under the care of Abraham. A mother's prayer is answered, and this may be by achieving what is sought, or by storing up reward in the Hereafter, or by warding off affliction.
