Is it permissible to temporarily refrain from teaching the Qur’an in order to devote oneself to seeking knowledge, given that there is someone else who can fill the role of the reciter? And is it permissible to not teach a student who suffers from a speech impediment and is unable to recite correctly?

Teaching the Qur’an is a communal obligation (fard al-kifaya). The obligation is lifted from the rest if a sufficient number of people undertake it, meeting the need. It is necessary to teach those who cannot pronounce the words correctly, except in cases of inability. It is advisable to start with students by teaching them the rules that rectify their pronunciation, the best of which are the Nuraniyya and Baghdadiyya methods.
