Is it permissible to continue reading the Quran despite weak recitation and committing verbal errors, or must one stop?

If the لحن (melodic error) in recitation alters the meaning or the grammatical inflection (إعراب), then one who is capable of learning should pause and strive to correct it. As for one who is not capable, or whose tongue does not obey him, he may recite if his correct pronunciation outweighs his errors. However, if his errors are numerous, he should stop and suffice himself with correcting only Al-Fatihah and the shorter surahs, compensating for this by frequently listening to proficient reciters. Al-Ghazali mentioned that if a person who makes many لحن errors is capable of learning, it is obligatory for him to refrain from reciting until he has learned. If his tongue does not obey him, then if most of his recitation contains لحن, he should abandon it. But if the majority is correct and he is unable to achieve perfection, there is no harm in his reciting, provided he lowers his voice.
