Is our contribution to providing a medical device for a colleague in need, who fears spending his money due to his inability to earn it back, considered an ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), or what?

God does not let the reward of those who do good deeds be lost. If you spend your money on your colleague who has wealth but is unwilling to spend it, God will place that in the balance of your good deeds, provided it is free from ostentation. This is supported by the hadith of the man who gave charity to a thief, a harlot, and a rich person, and it was said to him: "As for your charity to a thief, perhaps he will refrain from stealing. As for the harlot, perhaps she will refrain from her illicit acts. And as for the rich person, perhaps he will take heed and spend from what God has given him."

You should clarify to your colleague that stinginess is blameworthy in Islamic law, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "And let not those who withhold what Allah has given them of His bounty think that it is good for them. Rather, it is bad for them. They will be encircled by what they withheld on the Day of Resurrection," and according to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "And what disease is more harmful than stinginess?"
