Will the prayer of a mother be answered if she bears false witness, causes discord among her children, and invokes evil upon her grandchildren due to their bad manners, even if she is served and treated with kindness?

We advise the esteemed questioner to exercise beautiful patience regarding the ill-treatment by her mother-in-law and her daughter. Her patience in this regard holds immense reward with Allah, as it involves treating her husband with kindness and enduring harm for his sake, and due to the great virtue of patience and forgiveness with Allah. Allah Almighty says: "And if you are patient, it is better for those who are patient."

A Muslim's supplication against another Muslim without right is forbidden because it is an act of injustice. There is a prohibition against supplicating against children. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "...Do not supplicate against yourselves, nor supplicate against your children, nor supplicate against your wealth. Do not coincide with an hour from Allah in which a gift is requested and He responds to you."

The mother-in-law's supplication against her grandchildren falls under this prohibition, and it is apparent that it will not be answered due to the sin involved and the severing of kinship ties. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The supplication of a servant continues to be answered as long as he does not supplicate for a sin or the severing of kinship ties."
