What is the opinion regarding the group "Quranists" who claim to follow only the Qur'an?

Some have raised the doubt that the Sunnah is not a source of legislation, claiming that the Quran alone suffices, and that fabricated hadiths have been inserted into the Sunnah. These individuals are an extension of a people about whom the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warned, saying: "Soon there will be a man reclining on his couch, receiving a hadith from my hadith, and he will say: 'Between us and you is the Book of Allah. What we find in it as lawful, we deem lawful; and what we find in it as unlawful, we deem unlawful.' Indeed, what the Messenger of Allah has forbidden is like what Allah has forbidden."

The Holy Quran has mandated obedience to the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, in approximately one hundred verses, considering his obedience as obedience to Allah, and denying faith to those who reject his judgment, as Allah Almighty says: "But no, by your Lord, they will not believe until they make you judge in what has become a dispute between them, and then find no discomfort in their souls from what you have decided and submit in full submission."

The scholars of the Ummah have taken care to purify the Sunnah from all extraneous elements, and the enemies of this Ummah have testified that Muslims are the only nation that has cared for the chain of narration (isnad) of hadith. The soundness of a hadith from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, is sufficient for it to be obligatory to act upon. Similarly, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, sufficed with sending a single Companion to convey his call, which indicates that a solitary report (khabar al-ahad) is a valid proof.

The details of legal rulings, such as the five daily prayers, the zakat quotas, and the details of the Hajj rituals, cannot be known except through the Sunnah.
