Is it permissible to seek revenge on the husband who wronged me, my family, my honor, and my dignity, after my remaining with him became solely for the purpose of revenge?

What you have mentioned about your husband's traits and actions indicates his bad character and weak religious commitment. It is a great mistake for him to accuse your honor without proof. You are not allowed to laugh or speak with non-mahram men except out of necessity and within the limits of Islamic law. His request for you to stop working is his right, unless you stipulated the continuation of your work upon marriage.

It is not permissible for you to remain with him for the purpose of revenge, as that is an injustice to yourself and yields no benefit. If a woman is under the marital bond of her husband, she must fulfill his rights and treat him well, for his rights upon her are great. Khul' (divorce initiated by the wife) was legislated for a woman if she fears that she will not be able to fulfill her husband's rights due to her dislike of him. She may also refer her case to a judge if she is suffering harm, either to remove the harm or to obtain a divorce.

We advise you to pause, review yourself, and be frank with your husband about what displeases you, so he can avoid it. Mutual understanding between spouses requires patience, overlooking minor faults, and focusing on the good aspects. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A believing man should not hate a believing woman. If he dislikes one of her characteristics, he will be pleased with another." If your husband does not change, then an arbitrator from your family and an arbitrator from his family should mediate between you to bring about reconciliation. If these means of reconciliation do not work, then you are permitted to seek Khul' or divorce.
