What is the advice for someone who starts out strong in repentance then their resolve weakens, using the excuse "Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity"? Should they start out strong or gradually, or should they embrace the saying, "If your winds blow, seize the opportunity"?

Guidance and repentance are a great blessing. Turning to obedience after repentance is natural, but it may be followed by a period of slackness. The danger lies in the continuation of this slackness until one returns to disobedience. It is incumbent upon the repentant person, when experiencing slackness, to be moderate, to adopt a middle path, and to adhere to the Sunnah, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, for every action there is a period of enthusiasm, and for every period of enthusiasm there is a period of slackness. So, whoever's period of enthusiasm is directed towards my Sunnah, he has succeeded, and whoever's period of slackness is directed towards other than that, he has perished." Moderation and the middle path in worship are what is required. There should be no excessiveness that leads to boredom, nor negligence that leads to abandonment, for he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Be straight and close [to perfection], and go forth in the morning, and in the evening, and a part of the night. Be moderate, be moderate, and you will reach [your goal]." Repentance requires gratitude by persevering in obedience, and the most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are continuous, even if they are few.
